Obsession Board Game Rules

How to Play Obsession Board Game

Objective

Obsession game is played between 2 players with aim to move all their 10 rings to either "up" or "safe" position in the game board. The game is played with 2 six-sided dice.

Gameplay

Obsession board contains 10 numbered slots on two sides of the board each side belonging to one player. Slots are numbered from 1 through 10. Each slot has one ring which is placed at the "down" position at the beginning of the game.

First Turn

First turn is decided by roll of a single die and player with higher die roll starts the game. In case same number is rolled by both players, they roll again.

Subsequent Turns

Each player on his turn rolls two dice. Player can play rings according to individual value of two dice or combined value of both as per the rules below.

  • Player can move his ring from "down" to "up" if it matches individual or combined value of the rolled dice.
  • Player can move his opponent's ring from "up" to "down" if it matches individual or combined value of the rolled dice.
  • Player cannot move his ring from "up" to "down" position.
  • Player cannot move his ring from "up" to "safe" position.
  • Player cannot move opponent's ring from "safe" position.
  • Player is allowed to move his ring from "safe" to "up" position which normally is done if that is the only move possible and player wants to continue rolling dice.
  • Once player passes turn to the opponent, all of opponent's rings in "up" position are automatically moved to "safe" position.

Player can roll dice as many time as he wants as long as after each roll he is able to make move for both dice values. If that is not possible, then turn is passed to the opponent.

The first player to move all 10 rings to "up" or "safe" position wins the game.
